Job Title: Maintenance Technician II – Mechanical & Robotics
Job Description

This role supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and automated packaging and distribution equipment. You will diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and help ensure that all material handling systems operate safely and efficiently throughout a high-volume facility.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all established safety procedures and practices.
• Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and pneumatic systems, ensuring all work is properly documented.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues on material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components.
• Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment to support continuous operations.
• Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose equipment issues and guide repairs.
• Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to test circuits, components, and systems, and verify repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts usage, and equipment status within maintenance systems and logs.
• Track, organize, and store department inventory, ensuring that tools, parts, and supplies are available and properly maintained.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance colleagues to maintain positive working relationships and support overall facility performance.
• Follow material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with original equipment manufacturer guidelines and applicable safety standards.
• Support robotic operation and maintenance activities as needed, including troubleshooting basic input and output functions.
• Move and handle items up to 49 pounds and perform work that requires standing and walking for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience working with automated conveyor systems and controls.
• At least 2 years of experience repairing material handling equipment.
• At least 2 years of experience performing predictive and preventive maintenance procedures.
• At least 1 year of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
• At least 1 year of experience applying electrical and electronic principles in a maintenance or repair environment.
• Ability to safely and effectively use a multimeter for troubleshooting and verification.
• Demonstrated ability to move up to 49 pounds and to stand and walk for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields.
• At least 2 years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a mechanical or electrical discipline.
• Experience working with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with original equipment manufacturer and safety guidelines.
• Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders, maintenance history, and inventory.
• Project management experience, including planning, prioritizing, and executing maintenance projects.
• Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or distribution environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated systems.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large operations facility that includes automated conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and robotics. The role involves frequent movement between departments, floors, and areas of the property, including walking approximately 6 to 12 miles per day. You will regularly reach above your head, kneel, squat, climb steps and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds of equipment. Tasks often require bending at the waist or knees to install or move equipment in tight or varied spaces. The work environment includes fluctuating temperatures and may require extended periods of standing, including at a computer or stand-up desk for 1 to 2 hours per day. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, including a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots, to ensure safe performance of all duties in an active industrial setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
