Looking for an internship where you can apply what youre learning in the classroom to real-world engineering projects At Klute Engineering youll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers contribute to meaningful projects and gain hands-on experience that can help launch your engineering career.

Our Engineering Internship gives you an inside look at the design and engineering of steel structures used in electric utility substations and transmission lines across the country. Youll assist with engineering calculations design documentation 3D modeling and project coordination while learning how engineering concepts become real-world solutions.

Internship Details

• Season: Summer 2027
• Schedule: 40 hours per week 8 AM - 5 PM (M - T) & 8 AM - 3:30 PM (Friday)
• Pay: $25 per hour
• Location: In-office at either our York or Omaha location

What Youll Do

Youll collaborate with our experienced engineering team on projects involving the design and engineering of substation and transmission line structures. Along the way youll gain practical experience with the technical work documentation and coordination needed to bring projects from design to completion.

• Perform engineering calculations and assist with computer-aided design and drafting using tools such as Advance Steel and Tekla.
• Help verify permitting requirements and applicable code compliance.
• Assist in preparing construction documents for various engineering systems.
• Track requests for information (RFIs) review shop drawings and organize project documentation.
• Support engineers with project-related tasks technical reviews and problem-solving.
• Gain exposure to 3D modeling and the design considerations involved in steel fabrication and utility infrastructure.

What Were Looking For

• Pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering ideally approaching senior year or a recent graduate.
• Working knowledge of 3D modeling.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• A motivated team-oriented approach and an interest in applying engineering concepts to real-world projects.
