Fire Protection Sprinkler Technician

Fire Protection TechnicianPerform fire protection system inspection, testing, repair, and service call activity. Needs include fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, emergency lighting, etc. Knowledge of NFPA standards and procedures required. The Fire Protection Technician will work as a part of fire life and safety team on a larger Facility Maintenance team. Abilities to complete work on time, work as part of a team, communicate with manager, and follow-up with customer are critical.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesTest and inspect facility fire safety systems as part of preventive maintenance programWrite and provide inspection/service reports on tested equipment and devices. Indicate any deficiencies or corrections that need to be made.Assist in testing, maintaining, and performing light repairs on the fire sprinkler systemLearn the fire protection control system to provide service calls as needed.Complete all work orders and reports thoroughly and on timeInteract with customers in professional manner; follow-up communication with customer is criticalPerform/participate in "after-hours" emergency call rotationOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required, vocational or industry trade school is a plus.Must be 21 years of age or olderAbility to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and customersKnowledge of NFPA 25 2023 and the 2022 editions of NFPA 20, NFPA 72, and NFPA 291Must have Backflow Test and Repair CertificationMust have NICET Level II Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems.Must have 4 or more years of experience in all fire sprinkler systems (wet, dry, deluge, and pre-action)Willing to support training/development for entry-level candidates.Must be able to lift a minimum of 75lbs on a regular basisBasic mechanical skills are requiredValid Driver's License requiredAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
