Packaging Mechanic – Manufacturing

Church & Dwight | Old Fort, Ohio

Are you a hands-on mechanic with strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills? Church & Dwight is looking for a Packaging Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-speed packaging equipment at our Old Fort, Ohio facility, which manufactures products including ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda.

What You'll Do

• Troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and maintain high-speed packaging equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Work on packaging lines, palletizers, stretch wrappers, and raw material conveying systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues, including PLC-related problems.
• Read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Perform machine changeovers and setups to support efficient production startups.
• Repair and rebuild motors, brakes, pumps, and other equipment components.
• Fabricate replacement parts and perform basic welding and machining as needed.
• Follow plant safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Maintain food safety, quality, and sanitation standards in accordance with applicable GFSI, FDA, and HACCP requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area following 5S standards.
• Support production goals and assist other departments as needed.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience .
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a solid electrical background.
• Basic welding and machining skills, including experience with a lathe, mill, drill press, or band saw.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial packaging equipment preferred.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work various shifts, including weekends, and overtime as production requires.
