To learn more about our story click HERE.The Simulation & Analysis Engineer II – Structural Analysis will use their significant design and analysis background to analyze static and dynamic load cases on power tool components and assemblies - offering fast, reliable recommendations for revisions to increase robustness and optimize weight, size, and cost. The ideal candidate will be extremely strong in mechanical design with a passion for linear and non-linear Finite Element Analysis.You’ll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:Directly support New Product Development and Advanced Engineering projects with Finite Element Analysis of components and assemblies, with a focus on stress/strain evaluationsConduct linear and non-linear finite element analysesConduct dynamic, modal, drop and deflection analysesConduct fatigue analysis and durability calculationsCorrelate FEA models to physical durability testing, including drop tests, vibration tests, and strain gauge measurements.Consult with teams on loading and boundary conditionsConsult with teams and technicians on strain gauge placementEstimate or verify loading conditions based on failure analysisRecommend geometry or material changes for design robustness as well as weight, size, and cost optimizationsExecute analysis on competitive parts and productsBe highly agile – use highly effective communication skills to quickly understand the depth of work required and provide trade-offs of accuracy versus time to complete analysis. Articulate and prioritize time constraints where neededWill receive analysis requests from a variety of team members – must be strong in prioritization, timing, and scope discussions at kickoff and efficiently document findings and recommendations at closureMentor, train, and share knowledge to increase overall FEA capabilities of the departmentWhat TOOLS you’ll bring with you:Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred)5+ years of mechanical design & Finite Element Analysis experienceProficient with linear & nonlinear FEA, dynamic analysis, and fatigue analysisExtensive experience with Ansys & LS-DynaWorking knowledge of other analysis types such as CFD, NVH, gear and transmission analysis, and analysis of rotational componentsProficient in CAD – NX, Solidworks, or similarProficient in quantifying loading and correlating failures modes to FEA simulationStrong root cause and failure analysis aptitudeAbility to quickly grasp component and assembly functionality, determine load cases and constraints, and execute varied complexity levels of analysis depending on criticality and timing to New Product Development team membersHighly motivated self-driver with never satisfied, always improving attitudeWe provide these great perks and benefits:Robust health, dental and vision insurance plans.Generous 401 (K) savings plan.Education assistance.On-site wellness, fitness center, food, and coffee service.And many more, check out our benefits site HERE.Milwaukee Tool is an equal opportunity employer.SummaryLocation: Brookfield, WIType: Full time
