Substitute Bus Drivers

Job Description
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: None. One year driving oversized vehicles preferred.
Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, walking and standing. Frequent bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, turning, crouching, and repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs intermittently. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements: Current, valid South Dakota Commercial Driver’s License and good driving record. Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical. Successful completion of annual Bus Driver Training. Ability to work cooperatively and congenially with others, to follow written and verbal directions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Transports students to and from school or school activities.
- Responsible for behavior management of students; reports behavior issues to administration.
- Conducts safety checks on bus as assigned; reports malfunction or potential problems to Transportation/Bus Garage Supervisor.
- Participates in bus evacuation drills.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
- Responsible for fueling assigned vehicle.
- Completes required reporting and paperwork.
- Works with Transportation Supervisor in making arrangements for substitute drivers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
