Software Engineer

State governments, specifically legislatures, have been operating on antiquated technology leading to billions in downstream costs in the U.S. each year. This information-dense industry’s lack of innovation directly impacts legislators, government workers, lobbyists, and advocates’ ability to efficiently implement effective legislation. Legible AI is breathing new life into this industry, providing the operating system for effective state governance in the post-information age. This is a well-funded startup that is experiencing significant growth across many of the United States in both the public and private sector with the goal of capturing significant market share across all 50 states within the next year. We have significant runway, an exceptional team, a growing product loved by our customers, and a clear mission driving us forward. We’re looking for another software engineer to join our product team of 5. This engineer is joining a team with a strong product & engineering culture, working directly with the co-founder/head of product, the head of engineering, our lead designer, and two additional engineers to rapidly develop the Legible product roadmap, own the delivery of features end-to-end, and iterate on existing features that are used heavily in information-dense workflows. You will contribute to technical design, architecture, and prioritization. You will own delivery, testing, documentation, and maintenance. This engineer must be resourceful, diligent, curious, coachable, and focused on owning outcomes. They must strive not only to deliver outcomes for our customers, but to make work easier for our team. It’s important that this engineer is comfortable with ambiguity, loves their work, understands and cares deeply for the customer, can make thoughtful decisions and consider complex tradeoffs quickly, and reach end results with high agency. As a core member of our small team, you will be expected to speak your mind, raise concerns, and challenge assumptions daily. Significant proof of high quality, time-constrained results driven and delivered successfully will be required. We do not care about pedigree, we only care about proof of results and hunger to continue growing. Willingness to work on-site in Austin, Texas 3+ years of delivering high quality software Previous experience owning feature technical design and delivery end-to-end Frontend: Experience with Typescript, Next.js/React Backend: Experience with Python, FastAPI, with an understanding of microservice principles AI Layer: A recent history working with large language models and associated frameworks /technology to help them successfully navigate large text volumes with high quality output. DevOps & Deployment: Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD pipelines, observability tools A proven track record of results ownership from prioritization and design through delivery and iteration Deep curiosity and an evident love for both the field and your work Willingness to dive in, test, evaluate and integrate new technology Willingness to speak up if you are light on any of the bullet points above and prove that you’re willing to learn any part of our stack that you’re missing. #J-18808-Ljbffr Legible AI
