Senior Designer / Design Director - Women’s Activewear

Job Title: Senior Designer / Design Director – Women’s Activewear We are seeking an experienced Senior Designer or Design Director of Women’s Activewear to lead the creative vision and product design strategy for a key Walmart business. The ideal candidate combines elevated design sensibility with strong commercial instincts and a deep understanding of the mass‑market consumer. The level and scope of the position will be tailored to the selected candidate’s experience. Responsibilities Lead the design and development of seasonal women’s activewear collections for Walmart. Establish a compelling creative direction across color, fabric, print, graphics, silhouettes, and styling. Translate fashion, activewear, wellness, and consumer trends into commercially successful product. Build cohesive assortments across performance, lifestyle, athleisure, separates, sets, and layering pieces. Partner closely with the VP of Merchandising/Product to align the creative vision with business objectives, pricing, and retailer needs. Collaborate with merchandising, product development, sourcing, technical design, and production teams throughout the product lifecycle. Create and oversee concept boards, color palettes, CADs, technical sketches, artwork, and design packages. Direct fittings and product reviews to ensure design integrity, fit, function, quality, and cost targets. Present seasonal concepts and assortments to executive leadership and Walmart partners. Analyze competitive activity, market trends, sales insights, and customer feedback to identify product opportunities. Manage multiple seasons and priorities in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment. Provide creative leadership, mentorship, and direction to the broader design team, as appropriate to level. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related discipline. Approximately 8–12+ years of women’s apparel design experience, with significant expertise in activewear, athleisure, or performance apparel. Previous experience at the Senior Designer, Design Director, or comparable leadership level. Strong understanding of the Walmart customer, mass-market retail, and value-driven product development. Demonstrated ability to create trend-right, commercially successful women’s activewear assortments. Strong knowledge of garment construction, technical fabrics, performance features, fit, color, print, and graphic development. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with PLM systems is preferred. Strong leadership, presentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to balance creativity, speed, cost, and retailer requirements without compromising the customer proposition. Salary $120,000-$180,000 #J-18808-Ljbffr SBH Fashion
