Utilizes assessment skills, plans for continuity of care, able to individualize patient needs. Understands the importance of patient education and offers goal directed nursing care to patients. Supervisory Relationships Reports to Director of Nursing Responsibilities Monitors and assesses the physical status of the patient through personal observation, assessment, and interaction. Knowledge of Privacy Practices & Patient Bill of Rights. Appropriate patient assessment and evaluation including pertinent medical and surgical history. Able to identify educational, psychosocial, and cultural needs. Knowledge of required pre‑operative testing requirements and identification of surgical risks. Demonstrates understanding and interpretation of diagnostic measures such as lab tests, radiology exams, and EKG interpretation. Identifies patient needs and communicates/shares this information to all involved in patient care. Acts as a patient advocate in the coordination of patient care. Maintains knowledge regarding medication, medications utilized, anesthesia medication, and/or herbal therapies and associated risks. Utilizes professional nursing judgement, takes action to implement the nursing care plan, and resolves identifiable issues before they become a problem/incident/event. Provides appropriate and complete pre and post‑operative patient assessment, airway management, and patient monitoring. Able to complete accurate and timely medical record documentation. Reports and documents information efficiently. Utilizes supplies, equipment, and resources to contain cost without compromising delivery of patient care. Aware of and able to successfully carry out infection control, and environmental safety practices. Physical Demands: this position requires extensive mobility, walking, and standing. Most of the days work involves pushing, pulling, and lifting patients or equipment.
