District Technician

Technology Technician Full-Time, Year-Round Position Pay: Starting at $22.09/hr Location: District-wide

Purpose Statement

The Technology Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer hardware, peripherals, and related systems across the district. This role involves diagnosing and repairing hardware and network issues, providing technical support to staff, and supporting site technology operations. Reports to: Director of Technology Innovation

Essential Functions

• Assess malfunctions in hardware/software to determine repair or replacement needs.
• Attend school and departmental meetings to share and gather relevant information.
• Coordinate repair work with schools and district offices to minimize service disruptions.
• Diagnose equipment failures to ensure proper operation.
• Install computer hardware, peripherals, and software to maintain site operations.
• Maintain accurate records (e.g., repairs, inventory, inspections).
• Order parts through approved vendors to maintain equipment availability.
• Perform basic network troubleshooting (e.g., filter issues, connectivity).
• Prepare written documentation (e.g., status reports, user guides).
• Configure technology for secure student assessments.
• Troubleshoot and repair computers, projectors, cameras, and related equipment.
• Research products/vendors to support procurement decisions.
• Respond to inquiries from staff, parents, and students with guidance and referrals.
• Support inventory systems for tracking technology lifecycle.

Minimum QualificationsSkills

• Use of diagnostic tools (network testers, multimeters, etc.)
• Adherence to safety procedures
• Accurate documentation and record keeping

Knowledge

• Basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios)
• Technical reading and written communication
• Repair of microcomputers, printers, monitors, and digital electronics
• Use of electronic test equipment and tools
• Safety and inventory procedures

• Schedule tasks and manage multiple priorities
• Collaborate with diverse individuals and teams
• Adapt to changing work priorities
• Solve problems independently using data and technical knowledge

Work Environment

• Requires significant physical effort (lifting, crawling, kneeling)
• Physical activity: ~45% sitting, 30% walking, 25% standing
• Some exposure to risk of injury or illness may occur

Job Requirements

• Relevant job-related experience required
• Education in a related technical field preferred
• Experience in a school or educational setting is a plus

Additional Duties

• Supports technology use in instructional areas such as Applied Technology, Performing Arts, Library Media, and Telecommunications by offering guidance on procedures and safety
