Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Site Survey Field Technician to conduct on-site network infrastructure assessments and documentation at multiple locations in Georgia. The technician will work with site contacts to review existing network environments, document current connectivity methods, and collect detailed information regarding telecommunications and IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct on-site network and telecommunications surveys.
• Meet with site representatives and IT personnel to understand the existing network environment.
• Review campus layouts and identify current building interconnections, including:
o Wireless bridges
o Underground cabling
o Overhead cabling
o Fiber and copper infrastructure
• Identify potential pathways and obstacles for connecting buildings that are not currently networked.
• Inspect and document IDF/MDF rooms and telecommunications closets.
• Capture clear photographs of:
o IDF closet door locks
o Overall room layouts
o IT racks and equipment
o Patch panels and wall fields
o Carrier circuit demarcation points
o Other relevant IT and telecommunications equipment
• Complete all required survey forms and documentation accurately.
• Communicate survey progress and any site issues to the project coordinator.
• Submit survey reports, photographs, and supporting documentation within the required project timeline.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in network infrastructure, telecommunications, or structured cabling.
• Experience conducting site surveys and infrastructure assessments.
• Understanding of LAN/WAN networking concepts.
• Ability to identify and document network equipment and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Familiarity with IDF/MDF environments, patch panels, switches, routers, and carrier demarcation points.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and travel between project locations.
Preferred Qualifications
• CompTIA Network+
• Cisco CCNA
• BICSI Technician or Installer Certification
• Experience with structured cabling and wireless networking environments
• Experience using digital survey and reporting tools
Deliverables
• Completed site survey forms.
• Detailed site notes and observations.
• Photographic documentation of network infrastructure.
• Documentation of existing connectivity methods and recommended pathways.
• Final survey package submitted within project deadlines.
Travel Requirements
Travel to project locations in Athens, Clanton, and Cullman, Alabama, is required. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between sites are necessary.
