Information Technology Technician - Data AnalyticsThe City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a motivated and collaborative part-time Information Technology Technician - Data Analytics (Hourly City Worker) to support the Information Technology Department. This part-time position offers an excellent opportunity for students and early-career technology professionals to gain hands-on experience working with enterprise applications, data analytics, automation, and technology solutions that support City operations while working alongside experienced IT professionals.This is a part-time position working approximately 15-25 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours per week or 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1st– June 30th). This is an in-person position working at Thousand Oaks City Hall (2100 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362).Examples of DutiesAssist with a variety of assignments and day-to-day tasks under the guidance of IT Department staff, including:Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise applications, reports, and data solutionsAssist with data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting to support City departments and business operationsDevelop and maintain reports, dashboards, data queries, and automated processes using approved City technologiesSupport application integrations, data imports/exports, and API-based solutionsTroubleshoot application, data, and reporting issues while documenting findings and recommended solutionsAssist with application testing, system implementations, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activitiesProvide responsive technical assistance and customer support to City staffCreate and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and user guidesManage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detailPerform other related duties in support of the Information Technology DepartmentTypical QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess:Progress toward, or completion of, a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Information Technology, or a related fieldExperience with data analysis, reporting, or application development through coursework, internships, or professional experienceWorking knowledge of relational databases, SQL, Microsoft Excel, and data analysis conceptsFamiliarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, VBA, or JavaScriptExposure to APIs, system integrations, or automation tools is desirableExcellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff or end usersAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a teamEssential Attributes:Effective CommunicatorTeam BuilderStrategic ThinkerAccountableProblem Solver and Decision MakerPlanner and OrganizerTechnically KnowledgeableSupplemental InformationFILING DEADLINE: August 20, 2026, 11:59 pm.The first review of candidates will take place on August 25, 2026.
