General Purpose The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best practice standards in all work centers, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be requested when they help achieve customer service and operational goals. Essential Functions Practices safe behaviors and maintains safety as the number one priority. Maintains awareness on the sales floor, ensuring a clutter‑free environment and clear egress to emergency exits, and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership. Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, greeting them with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly "hello", and saying "thank you" with every register transaction. Provides prompt, efficient responses to customer inquiries and handles all customer issues courteously, calling Store Leadership when necessary. Represents and supports the company brand at all times. Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain a safe and tidy store environment. Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, the Store Protection Specialist (SPS) position (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards. Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise. Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock (MOS) policies, including identification of MOS merchandise, proper processing of each piece, and notification of Store Leadership for disposal approval. Follows all cash handling policies and procedures, maintaining accuracy and awareness when handling bankable tenders. Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform their role, maximizing productivity by executing all store best practices and minimizing steps and touches in workflow. Pushing, pulling, and lifting more than 25 pounds occasionally. Uses janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies. Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills. Stockroom shifts: pushes, pulls, and lifts more than 20 pounds regularly.
