Visual Merchandiser

Scandinavian Designs - Dania Furniture is looking for a Visual Merchandiser! Location: 1014 N. El Camino Real Encinitas, CA 92024 Position: Non-Exempt / hourly Pay Wage: Starting at $20 / hr - $22 / hr! What You’ll Be Doing Implement and maintain inspirational showroom displays consistent with our design specifications, visual merchandising directives, and promotional calendar as directed by the Visual Merchandising Managers. Create special displays to promote specific offers or products. Draw /sketch designs to illustrate ideas and vision. Optimize store space and layout; keep displays current and take down old displays. Emphasize correct stocking direction, signage placement and general maintenance. Maintain showroom, sales counter, shelves, and stockroom ensuring flow of product provides engaging experience to every customer. Physically set up or switch out displays with support from store staff as needed. Perform light furniture assembly and gather specific tools needed for each display solution with help from team. Stay up to date with product range, features, benefits, and stock levels. Use energy and enthusiasm for design to participate in in-store meetings, Visual Merchandiser meetings and training sessions within market. Perform other special projects or duties when required. Who You Are Prior retail, interior design and/or display experience preferred. Successful associates have a wholehearted customer service approach with a professional and welcoming presentation. Able to articulate knowledge of current trends in home furnishings, fashion and culture and apply imagination and creativity in each aspect of role. Knowledge and use of color and design concepts. Organizational and time management skills with attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to illustrate ideas and concepts by drawing and sketching. Competency using Microsoft Word and Excel; skill in Auto CAD is a plus. Ability to read and understand floor plans. Able to use hand tools (hammers, drills, and levels), ladders and lift 30 lbs. unassisted. Valid driver’s license and insurance. Position requires successfully completing pre-employment background check. Education A degree in design or related field is preferred or a high school diploma/GED or equivalent.
