Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit
• Perform detailed patient assessments and continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and hemodynamic stability
• Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, vasoactive drips, and other prescribed treatments
• Operate and monitor advanced ICU equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and invasive monitoring devices
• Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies
• Assist physicians during emergency procedures, intubations, central line placements, and bedside interventions
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Collaborate with intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case managers, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and ICU best practices
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting patients and families during critical situations

Requirements

• Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact RN License
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Current BLS Certification required
• Current ACLS Certification required
• NIH Stroke Scale Certification preferred
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and managing advanced cardiac and critical care monitoring
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and emergency response skills
• Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment
