Business Relationship Banker The Business Relationship Banker is a field‑based, growth‑driven professional responsible for building and deepening relationships with small business clients while serving as a trusted financial advisor. The role is performed primarily outside of bank premises, conducting prospecting visits, client meetings, and community outreach to source new business and serve existing clients at their places of business. Core Responsibilities Business Development & Relationship Expansion Conduct in‑person prospecting visits, client meetings, and community outreach activities. Identify and acquire new small business clients through networking, field outreach, referrals, and outbound calling. Expand existing customer relationships by visiting clients to uncover additional needs and present tailored financial solutions. Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects, managing all opportunities through the full sales cycle to achieve growth targets. Negotiate terms, present proposals, and secure signed agreements to complete the sales process. Use Salesforce to track field activity, log prospect interactions, manage follow‑ups, and report closed business. Consultative Financial Guidance Act as the primary field‑based financial advisor for small business clients, conducting in‑depth financial reviews at their place of business. Provide expert advice on bank deposit and treasury products tailored to each client’s operational needs. Educate customers on digital banking tools and innovative solutions to improve business operations and cashflow. Serve as the main point of contact for banking needs, ensuring a seamless and high‑quality customer experience. Community Engagement & Partnerships Participate in local events, business associations, and networking activities to build brand presence and generate new business opportunities. Develop partnerships with community organizations to support small business growth initiatives. Represent First United Bank as a trusted mentor and advocate for local businesses in the field. Organize and attend community outreach programs aligned with the bank’s mission and values. Collaboration & Leadership Collaborate with the Community Bank team and other internal partners to deliver relationship‑based solutions for small business clients. Coordinate customer engagement strategies and ensure a consistent, high‑quality customer experience across all touchpoints. Mentor colleagues on best practices for business development and relationship management. Participate in periodic team meetings and contribute to strategic planning sessions. Additional Responsibilities (Incidental and Administrative) Complete required compliance training annually. Adhere to First United Bank policies and procedures. Represent the bank professionally in all interactions and community involvement. Complete other duties as assigned to support organizational goals. Education & Experience • High School Diploma required; college coursework preferred. • Minimum 3 years of outside sales, banking, or relevant business development experience with a demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding sales goals. • Prior experience working primarily in the field or in a client‑facing outside sales capacity strongly preferred. Core Competencies Proven ability to generate new business in the field and expand existing relationships through in‑person sales activity. Strong consultative sales skills and financial acumen. Excellent communication, time management, and decision‑making abilities. Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities without direct supervision. Self‑motivated drive to meet and exceed sales goals while working autonomously outside of a traditional office environment. Professional demeanor and ethical conduct at all times.
