Job Description The New York City Law Department is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Professional Development in the Executive Division’s Professional and Organizational Development Unit. The Professional and Organizational Development Unit plays a central role in advancing the Law Department’s mission by overseeing a broad portfolio of attorney training and professional growth initiatives that support the development of a highly skilled and effective legal workforce. Assistant Directors evaluate agency wide training needs and coordinate the development, delivery, and assessment of CLE compliant programs aligned with adult learning standards and departmental priorities. They manage Orientation programs for entry and lateral attorneys, coordinate the annual Trial Advocacy program, and lead initiatives that strengthen attorney integration, retention, and engagement. The role also supports leadership development, collaborates with Divisions and City agencies to enhance specialized practice area training, and cultivates external partnerships to expand the Department’s training resources. Key responsibilities include managing core professional development programs such as the Coaching Collaborative, Training Consortium, and Mentoring Program; conducting data analysis to support continuous improvement; advising attorneys on CLE accreditation and compliance; and providing subject matter guidance on the Performance Appraisal Process for Assistant Corporation Counsels. Salary Information For 0–5 years of legal experience: $ 87,737–$122,300 For 5-10 years of legal experience: $122,300-137,188 For 10-15 years of legal experience: $137,188-$159,521 For 15-20 years of legal experience: $159,521-$180,791 For 20+ years of legal experience: $180,791-$188, 235 Candidates with highly specialized experience may qualify for salaries slightly above these ranges when a role requires such expertise or the position is considered hard to fill. Work From Home Options Flexible Remote Work: Allows limited, irregular work from home days. Citywide Pilot Program: Allows attorneys to work remotely on two set days per week, subject to Division approval and staffing needs. Participants must maintain a single designated remote work location, and in person obligations take precedence over scheduled remote days. This pilot is currently being tested across City agencies and is not yet permanent.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications At least two years of legal experience following graduation from an ABA accredited law school and current NY Bar membership in good standing.
