Position Summary The Student Care Coordinator, Basic Needs & Community Connections will be part of a team assisting students in obtaining resources that will improve their daily life and student experience. The Coordinator will connect students with campus and community resources that assist with solving social, economic, emotional and behavioral problems; help students cope with problems and solve issues that may be related to food insecurity, housing issues, financial well‑being and family crises; and serve as a resource to Dallas College faculty and staff by informing the campus community of various resources for at‑risk students. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Works in collaboration with campus and statewide stakeholders, and they are essential in identifying resources, following up on cases assigned and assisting students to persist to graduation. Responsible for running workshops and assist with campus events that promote well‑being. Requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. Knowledge of the purpose of community colleges and the vision of Dallas College. Skills in technological support and delivery of student programs and services; knowledge and skill in the use of integrated software systems; and proficiency in the use of Microsoft application software. Experience leading or managing major change initiatives. Employ and deploy data‑informed and results oriented initiatives. Ability to identify and address opportunities for programmatic growth that align with the needs of students in crisis. An understanding of contemporary issues in higher education is required through professional development activities. Experience working with student support programs (counseling, threat assessment, health & wellness programs, etc.). Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed during business regarding students, supervisors or other employees. Experience in strategic planning, assessment of program(s) effectiveness, and development of guidelines to enhance student success units within the institution and with accrediting bodies. Highly collaborative leader with experience in a comparably diverse and complex college/university with a proven track record of enhancing quality, excellence and student success. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents within the Dallas College community and health care, social service network related to student basic mental health, physical, spiritual and social needs. Must be able to lead a team or supervise position within the department. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Excellent time management, and organizational and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work effectively with cultural, and socially and economically diverse student populations. Responds appropriately to issues in a dynamic, rapidly changing educational/economic environment. Physical Requirements Normal physical job functions performed within a standard office environment. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with physical challenges to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in related fields. Official transcripts required. Three (3) years of related experience, preferably in a social service setting. Current and valid Texas driver’s license required. Experience working with and leading student and staff populations. Bilingual or multilingual preferred. ***Will be subject to a criminal background check. Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check. *** Key Responsibilities Implementation and leverage technology platforms such as Maxient and EAB Navigate to support the student care network. Work with: Maxient EAB Navigate AWS Inktel Call Center Resource and other Dallas College Campaigns CARE TEAM Support Parenting Student Supports Community Resources and Events Expand wrap‑around basic needs supports by connecting existing disparate student services (including transportation, childcare, emergency aid, benefits screening, and food assistance, etc.); planning and leading cross‑training; and supporting interdepartmental collaboration. Complete intake and assessment with students to fully understand their needs and concerns and develop Student Success Action Plans with students to encourage realistic goals and identify potential internal and external support resources. Provide appropriate ongoing follow up with students in person or by phone/email/virtual appointment for continuity of care and accountability and to evaluate successes, barriers, and/or gaps in support. Oversee daily campus operations and expansion of food pantry and clothing closet resources. Including cultivating relationships, coordinating deliveries, inventory management, and product distribution. Supervise and manage a team of Social Work interns, Part‑time employees, and work study students, including hiring, scheduling, leading, and coaching. Build and maintain working relationships with diverse community service partners, internal/external to the Dallas College community network, regarding support services offered at their location. Manage volunteer and donor relationships specific to the department and campus partners. Create support for students including a resource support series, webpage with resources for parents, and other initiatives. Explore expanded childcare connections and support. Support and scale initiatives to address student housing insecurity by establishing student‑centered goals, connecting community resources and partners to advance current conversations, and conducting student needs assessments. Develop, deliver, and evaluate interventions and sustainable programs over multiple campuses that ameliorate basic needs in a manner that promotes dignity and minimizes marginalization. Communicate, increase awareness, and advocate for students’ basic needs to a range of audiences both on campus and in the community. Engage in comprehensive assessment, evaluation, and program improvement by regularly tracking, communicating, and reporting relevant data; integrate feedback into program operations; and develop and review key performance indicators to reduce students’ food, housing, and financial insecurity. Attend relevant national and local training and meetings to increase knowledge and expand network of contacts in the community. Plan, organize, and implement campus‑wide educational programs and participate in outreach activities including but not limited to labeling at key events, integrating information into new student orientations or onboarding processes, presenting to student clubs, and increasing the college’s awareness and knowledge of student basic needs through presentations and educational events. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the various Dallas College student supports and resources for student navigation such as, financial aid, success coaching, TRIO, TLC programs, foster care, MAPS, tutoring, admissions, etc. Serve as a contact for faculty, staff, students (individuals and clubs), and alumni with basic needs inquiries and respond to emails. Assist department personnel with other Student Engagement activities that support student success, holistic wellness, and a sense of belonging, as needed. Adheres to policies and procedures and provides consistency across campuses. Maintains high ethical standards, respects privacy and confidentiality in all communications and records to the extent that such communications are protected under relevant privacy laws. Communicates and expresses ideas effectively both orally and in writing with individuals from diverse backgrounds within the Dallas College community network to follow‑up/communicate with a wide array of diverse stakeholders and constituents. Completes required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year. Performs other duties as assigned.
