Pharmacy Technician

Job Title
The duties include:
Correctly interpreting doctor's orders.
Selecting the correct unit dose medication from profile for loading into the automated dispensing cabinet and/or into the patient specific bin.
Making required calculations and conversions to prepare strengths and doses of medications ordered.
Answering routine questions from the facility staff regarding the scheduling and delivery of medications, referring questions requiring professional decisions and information to the pharmacist.
Entering prescriptions into computer systems, reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
Maintaining adequate levels of working stock and alerting the appropriate individual of needs.
Conducting final check on prescriptions that have been filled by other technicians prior to dispensing by the pharmacist.
Checking delivered drug supplies for short dating, tampering, breakage, deterioration.
Receiving and processing orders for controlled substances from prescriptions, wards, clinics and pharmacy subsection.
