Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Bring your expertise in American Sign Language to make a significant difference in a 9th-grade student’s educational journey. This onsite contract position focuses on interpreting for a student in a behavioral classroom. The assignment is set for the academic year from mid-August to late May, offering consistent hours and the chance to impact one student's classroom experience each day.

Key Qualifications:

• Hold at least one of the four nationally recognized certifications for Sign Language Interpreters
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) in educational settings
• Experience supporting students with hearing devices—including cochlear implants and assistive listening devices (ALD)
• Ability to facilitate communication for students with unintelligible speech
• Comfortable working collaboratively with special education staff in behavioral classrooms
• Professional, adaptable, and compassionate approach

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide daily ASL interpretation during instructional hours (average of 6.5 hours per day), excluding lunch, arrival, and dismissal
• Bridge communication between the student, instructional staff, and peers
• Support the student’s transition back from a residential day school environment
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all school policies and best practices
• Document and report on student progress as needed
