Job Summary

We are looking for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team! Direct Support Professionals (DSP) are responsible for providing individually-focused compassionate care and assistance to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and/or mental health challenges. The DSP will also encourage growth towards independence in activities of daily living, socialization, community involvement, and support in expressing choices.

The ideal candidate operates with a big heart, not only providing personalized and attentive care, but also building genuine relationships with those they serve. You are detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to creating a healthy environment that meets client needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to succeed in this role. Prior Direct Support or Home Health Aide experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Improve and respect the lives of individuals with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities
• Assist in the implementation of individual plans and behavioral plan goals
• Update individual case notes daily with feedback regarding the strengths, skills, and performance needs of individuals
• Help individuals develop appropriate social, behavioral, housekeeping, and daily life skills
• Assist with daily living activities, including preparing meals and assisting with personal hygiene
• Assist individuals in the pursuit of recreational, social, and community activities based on their preferences and individual goals
• Provide supervision and guidance for individuals during skill-building activities
• Assist and encourage individuals in the establishment of social networks
• Develop a rapport with individuals and cultivate a safe and supportive relationship
• Ensure individuals’ rights are protected

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and acceptable motor vehicle record preferred
• Must pass Pennsylvania Criminal Background Check and drug test
• Possess or be able to acquire certification in First Aid and CPR

Pay Range

Up to $17 or more, depending on experience. Compensation: $17.00 per hour
