Role: Registered Nurse – Pediatric CICU
Location: Houston, TX
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Days & Nights | Rotating Weekends
Shifts: 6:30 AM–6:30 PM / 11:00 PM–11:00 AM
Unit: 14-Bed Pediatric CICU
Ratio: 2:1

Position Summary:
Join a brand-new 14-bed Pediatric CICU program caring for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease and post-cardiac surgery needs. This is a highly specialized opportunity for experienced Pediatric ICU RNs, with an extensive 18-week training and orientation program. Training will take place at designated pediatric facilities in Dallas and Houston, with travel, room, and board provided.

Position Overview:

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients.
• Care for pediatric patients age 1 year and older.
• Support patients with congenital heart disease and post-cardiac surgery needs.
• Develop, implement, modify, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and family-centered environment.
• Incorporate patient and family education into nursing practice.
• Participate in cardiac program initiatives and process improvement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality pediatric critical care.

Requirements:

• 1+ year of recent Pediatric ICU RN experience in an acute-care hospital required.
• Pediatric cardiac/CVICU and pediatric post-op experience strongly preferred.
• Children's Hospital experience preferred.
• Associate Degree required.
• BSN required with enrollment within 6 months and completion within 24 months.
• Active RN license required.
• BLS required within 30 days of employment.
• ACLS required within 6 months.
• PALS required within 6 months.
• CCRN preferred.

Compensation:

• $42.03–$65.10/hr based on experience
• Night Differential: +$4/hr
• Weekend Differential: +$2/hr

Sign-On Bonus:
$30,000

Relocation:
Case by case.

Training & Orientation:

• 18-week specialized training/orientation program.
• Training at Medical City Dallas and the hospital in Houston.
• Travel, room, and board for training will be paid.

Candidate Fit:
Best suited for a Pediatric ICU RN with recent acute-care PICU experience, particularly someone with pediatric cardiovascular or post-operative cardiac experience.

Program Details:

• Brand-new Pediatric CICU program
• 14 beds
• 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Approximately 50–70 cases anticipated during the first year
• Pediatric patients 1 year and older
