Packaging Material Handler (12 Hour Days - Rotating Weekends)

In Webster, NY, fairlife is building a state‑of‑the‑art, 750,000‑sq‑ft manufacturing facility that will be operational in late 2025. The facility will employ 250 new employees and produce 5 million lbs. of milk a day. Job Overview We are looking for a Packaging Material Operator to organize, store, and supply raw materials to filling and packaging equipment. The role involves moving materials using an industrial truck, maintaining clean drive paths, removing waste, and ensuring FIFO rotation of supplies. Hours Day shift, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Rotating 2‑2‑3 schedule: two days on, two days off, three days on, followed by two days off, two days on, and three days off. Employees work every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Responsibilities Follow all safety, working, and GMP rules. Report to and follow directions of the Production Supervisors. Safely operate forklifts for moving and staging material or waste. Clean and sort used material as part of normal operating procedures. Maintain FIFO rotation of raw materials, inventory, or assigned items. Ensure all materials for finished and non‑finished goods are properly stored, paperwork filled, and documentation completed timely. Communicate with supervisor and filler operator about inventory availability or risks. Adhere to placement of inventory in designated, labeled locations; verify all supplies remain 18" from the walls. Keep packaging in‑feed areas clean, orderly, and clear of debris; store materials audit‑ready. Conduct monthly and yearly housekeeping audits and follow up actions. Learn to operate downstream equipment as needed. Aid in training new personnel or upskilling team members. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Coordinate packaging material needs effectively after training. Troubleshoot small problems and escalate as needed. Work safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety procedures. Possess or obtain an Industrial Truck Operator License. Handle ambiguity and work in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment. Proficiency in English: comfortable with written and verbal communication. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Stands on and operates an industrial truck most of the shift; sits about 25% of the time. Lifts up to 60 lbs frequently and 80 lbs occasionally; lifts >80 lbs with at least one other employee. Pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and twisting as required. Walks on uneven concrete or tile surfaces; climbs stairs to access pallets or chutes. Reaches below and/or above shoulder level when loading material. Uses hands and fingers for operating truck controls, keyboard typing, opening pallets, and cleaning up waste. Food Safety Requirements Notify supervision of repairs or adjustments that may affect product quality or food safety. Understand, observe, and comply with color‑coded container policy in Production Areas. Perform duties necessary to meet Company, Customer, and Government requirements and standards. Initiate action to prevent non‑conformance relating to food safety and product quality. Record any problems related to food safety or quality. Control processing or delivery of non‑conforming products until corrected. Allow another employee of equal skill level to assume duties in absence.
