BLS Common diagnosis / Types of patients CHF, diabetic, end of life, heart failure, medical patients & some require telemetry Experience or 'Must have' skills Are RN's required to titrate drips? No Common titratable &/or set rate drips No titratable drips Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes, 24/7 charge nurse - patient load depends on staffing & census Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes, depends on staffing & census. Try to keep it 1:10 RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? No vents. Bipap & Cpap - RT monitors Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RN's required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Nurses need to monitor/watch the tele monitors; but there is a tele monitor 24/7. Space Lab brand monitors. Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?) 12Hr shifts - 7a-730p/7p-730a Weekend Requirements RN travelers must work every other weekend. Weekends are: Days: Saturday/Sunday Nights: Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday Holiday Requirements RN travelers must work every other holiday. Holidays are: Days: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day Nights: Memorial Day Eve, July 3rd, Labor Day Eve, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Eve, New Years Eve Is there Call or a Standby requirement?
