TANF Case Manager

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing client services to TANF applicants. The Case Manager is responsible for interviewing clients to gather financial and demographic information; assessing client situations to develop, implement, and evaluate client case/service plans; making referrals for community resources and services; verifying client information; documenting client records; and accurately processing applications within established timelines and guidelines ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Conduct interviews with people to gather financial and demographic information via telephone and face-to-face. Verify client information, obtain proper documentation for each client file, and maintain up-to-date client case files. Assess client situations and develop client case/service plans. Document all client contacts, referrals, services, and activity. Conduct home visits every month as needed. Enter all client files and activity in the Data Bank (TAS) computer systems in a timely and accurate manner. Identify community resources and develop relationships for client referrals. Work with and advocate on behalf of federally recognized enrolled tribal clients to access community services available to them. Provide supportive case services related to self-sufficiency for clients, which may include transporting clients. Administer random urinalysis to active TANF clients. Provide ongoing support and counseling to sanctioned clientele. Complete and provide all required TANF reports on time. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform their duties. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate Degree in Human Services or related field with one year case work experience is preferred. Twenty-four semester hours of college coursework with a Human Services focus or related field with two years relevant experience in customer service, determining eligibility for public assistance, processing financial loan applications or medical/unemployment claims, unemployment services, or any combination of experience in the above areas is required CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain valid insurance, and be insurable under the Tribe's policy. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES: Experience working with Native Americans is required. Must possess excellent customer service skills and good listening skills. Must possess keyboarding skills for data entry. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, Outlook). Must be trustworthy, able to make timely decisions, and able to prioritize work Knowledge of Federal, State, and Tribal Law on abuse and neglect of individuals.
