Williams Memorial United Methodist Church Texarkana, Texas 75503 Part Time , Hybrid Communications Coordinator Williams Memorial United Methodist Church | Texarkana, TX 10-20 hours per week Flexible / hybrid Compensation: $230 to $480 per week, commensurate with experience. Help Us Tell the Story of Our Church! The life of our church is already happening at Williams Memorial UMC. We are looking for a Communications Coordinator who can help us share that life with the wider community. This is more than a social media position. We are looking for someone who can see what is happening within the church, recognize the stories worth telling, and creatively share them with people both inside and outside our congregation. Primary Responsibilities Create engaging social media content that highlights worship, ministries, small groups, Bible studies, rehearsals, Wednesday night activities, special events, and everyday church life. Work with pastors, staff, and ministry leaders to understand upcoming events and develop thoughtful ways to promote them. Create graphics and promotional materials for social media, email, newsletters, bulletins, announcement videos, and the church website. Develop simple but effective promotional campaigns for events—from gathering information several weeks in advance to creating posts, graphics, reminders, and follow-up content. Help maintain a consistent and engaging presence across the church's communication channels. Work with FAB, our external branding agency, as needed to help coordinate communications and creative projects. Help develop systems that make church communications organized, timely, and effective. Who We Are Looking For: Someone with a background in (or pursuing a degree in) communications, marketing, journalism, social media, or a related field is preferred . We are willing to train the right person in areas where they may have less experience if they are: Creative and curious Exceptionally organized Detail-oriented Self-motivated and dependable Comfortable working independently Required Skills and Qualifications Experience with: Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms Email/newsletter platforms Microsoft Office Google Workspace Basic photography and photo editing Basic video editing Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign is a plus, but not required . Experience working in a church or nonprofit is a plus but not required, this is a communications position, not a ministry position. A Flexible Role with Room to Grow This is a part-time position with considerable flexibility in how the work is organized and accomplished. We are looking for someone who can help us establish a communications rhythm that works for our church. The right person will have the freedom to bring their own creativity, experience, and ideas to the role. As the Communications Coordinator demonstrates success and develops a deeper understanding of the church and its story, there may be opportunities to take on greater responsibility for creative direction, communications strategy, branding, and other areas of the church's communications.
