Job Details Job Location: MI CHARLOTTE - CHARLOTTE, NC 28277 Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School/GED Job Shift: Any Job Category: Entry Level Summary ATS is seeking a full‑time NDT Trainee with NDT classroom training or a Level II MT/PT/UT Thickness (UTT) Technician to support our mechanical integrity department in Charlotte, NC. Travel required. NDT Assistant/Trainee Responsibilities Perform tasks as directed to prepare components or equipment for inspections. Work alongside certified technicians to complete projects and learn activities. Interface with personnel to determine scope of work and work priorities to meet customer expectations. Help clean and organize equipment before, during, and after projects. Document on‑job training experience as assigned by management. Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned by supervisors. Level II MT/PT/UTT Technician Responsibilities Perform examinations of materials in accordance with procedures, codes, standards, and specifications. Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the methods for which qualified. Exercise responsibility for OJT and guidance of trainees. Interface with department managers and clients to determine scope of work and priorities to meet customer expectations. Prepare written instructions and organize and report the results of examinations. Work independently and support team members. Perform other job‑related tasks as needed and assigned by supervisors. Qualifications NDT Assistants/Trainees High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Basic math and print reading skills. Ability to use computers for data entry and report writing. Prior NDT classroom training or OJT preferred. NDT Level II Technicians Minimum requirements of an NDT Level II Technician for MT, PT, and UTT. Documentation of education, training, and experience in applicable NDT methods. Working knowledge of industrial environments and general manufacturing processes. Effective communication with other departments and customers. Desired Experience Inspection of pressure vessels, storage tanks, and/or piping in accordance with applicable API code. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel for reporting. All Applicants Require the Following Ability to learn and comply with all company policies and procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to travel. Must pass a drug screen. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Work Conditions Wear required safety equipment. Work from heights on scaffolding, ladders, platforms, and man‑baskets. Work in confined spaces requiring crawling, stooping, and climbing. Work around operating equipment and industrial environments. Handle hazardous materials such as cleaners, penetrants, and film developing chemicals.
