Our client, a leader in the utilities industry, is looking to hire a Cost Technician. This role will be onsite 3x per week in Valparaiso, IN.

*This job is a 1-year W2 contract role with benefits!*

As a Cost Technician, you will support the Manager of Project Controls with invoice and timesheet validation and processing to ensure accurate cost allocation for multiple ongoing major projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Review and validate vendor invoices against Purchase Orders (POs) and governing documents, confirming scope of work, cost basis, allowable rates, applicable Work Orders (WOs), and effective dates
• Validate timesheets for compliance with PO terms and governing documents, confirming allowable rates, units, WOs, and PO references
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in timesheet and invoice entries, ensuring proper accounting and allocation
• Generate standardized and ad-hoc reports to support project analysis, contractor performance, and financial metrics
• Communicate all results and issues to leadership and cross-functional teams

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree & 3+ years of experience in Cost Management or Financial Analysis
• Strong skillset in Microsoft Excel, manipulating extensive datasets & developing reports

Desired Skills & Experience

• Working knowledge of SAP Ariba
• Knowledge of MS Project or similar project management tools
• Prior experience in the utilities or energy industry highly valued!
