Summary This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia. Responsibilities As an Environmental Health Scientist, you will: Serve as a senior scientific and technical authority responsible for providing expert geospatial science support and advanced data analysis for complex environmental health programs and initiatives. Provide leadership in addressing complex workforce and operational issues and ensure staff resources are effectively aligned with program priorities and organizational objectives. Plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee complex and high-priority scientific investigations involving environmental contamination, exposure pathways, and potential public health impacts. Establish strategic scientific and programmatic priorities and provides leadership in aligning activities, resources, and deliverables with organizational goals and emerging needs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Have a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. "This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained." Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Demonstrating experience providing geospatial science support, data analysis, technical guidance and scientific leadership. Supervising a large multidisciplinary team and evaluating staff performance. Overseeing complex scientific investigations related to environmental contamination and exposures. Establishing priorities and strengthening scientific and programmatic collaborations with internal and external stakeholders.
