Data Analyst — Hybrid Full Time, Headquarters, San Francisco, CA, US Salary: $94,000.00 – $105,000.00 per year Are you eager to make a real difference through data and innovation? Key Projects: medical cost trend analysis, classification research supporting advisory pure premium rate changes, studies on emerging drivers of system costs, employee tenure, long COVID, experience rating effectiveness, climate change and AI impacts. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop well‑documented and reproducible scripts in SQL, R or Python. Perform accuracy and reasonableness checks on datasets. Communicate data preparation rules to research staff. Assist with statistical analyses (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression analysis, predictive modeling). Develop data visualizations to highlight trends and patterns. Prepare tables and figures for reports and presentations. Ensure analysis results are accurate following review protocol. Provide technical and peer review of other analysts’ work. Communicate results via written and oral presentations. Develop and maintain automation of routine analysis and reporting tasks. Collaborate with other WCIRB units on analytics‑related projects. Education, Experience, and Skill Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, data science, computer science, etc.). Minimum two years of SQL, R or Python programming experience in a Data Analyst role or equivalent. Knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, U.S. industry classifications or property/casualty insurance. Proficiency in data wrangling and producing visualizations in R or Python. Track record of completed analytical projects in R or Python. Experience with statistical modeling, text analytics, geospatial data or predictive modeling. Experience working with relational databases, large datasets and multiple data sources. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong listening and interpersonal skills.
