Staff Accountant

Responsibilities

Kforce has a client in Annapolis, MD that is seeking a Staff Accountant to support their day-to-day accounting operations. This contract to hire role is well suited for a hands-on Accountant who enjoys taking ownership of accounts receivable, resolving discrepancies, supporting the month-end close, and working closely with finance leadership.Responsibilities:

• Manage the accounts receivable process, including invoice preparation, collections, and cash application
• Record and reconcile payments received through checks, ACH, credit cards, and other payment channels
• Review accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances
• Research and resolve billing, payment, and account discrepancies
• Complete bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations
• Prepare journal entries and support month-end close, accruals, revenue recognition, and financial reporting
• Monitor cash activity and assist with cash-transfer requests
• Maintain accounting schedules, procedures, and supporting documentation

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered
• Two to four years of relevant accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with accounts receivable, billing, cash application, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, filtering, and data reconciliation
• Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and professional communication skills
• Ability to manage recurring responsibilities independently after training
• Experience with Sage Intacct, multi-entity accounting, deferred revenue, grants, or audit support is a plus

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.


We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
