Fire Alarm Service Technician

$27 - $35 per hour

This position is responsible for the proper service, operation, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including inspecting, testing and performing system checks in accordance with fire code and preparing accurate inspection reports. Responsibilities Service or upgrade fire alarms in commercial and residential buildings. Test and repair alarm systems already in place. Perform inspections to ensure alarms are installed according to code. Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues. Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner. Protect and maintain company equipment. Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation. Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, to facilitate loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer’s safety instructions. Work in a safe manner as outlined by company safety procedures, including driver safety and personal protective equipment. Respond to emergency service calls. Apply troubleshooting skills to resolve fire alarm issues. Qualifications Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team as well as independently. Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site. Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally require evening, weekend or out‑of‑town assignments. Knowledge of fire safety principles and practices; understanding of codes and regulations related to fire alarm work. Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy. Ability to act in a lead capacity and recognize/report deviations through inspection programs. Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations. Ability to maintain accurate records and reports, and to understand and follow oral and written directions. Ability to use or repair small/light equipment such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment, and machinery. Maintain a clean and safe workspace. NICET certification in Fire Alarm Technology preferred; certification should be pursued and acquired within the first year of employment and maintained while employed. Knowledge of NFPA standards (including 70 and 72) a plus. Experience with commercial and residential fire alarm systems. Adherence to the Company Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. The position also requires the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $27.00 - $35.00 hourly, DOE.
