Exciting Night Shift Nursing Opportunity!

Job Description:


- Unit: 10 West - Long Term Antibiotics
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (7 PM - 7:30 AM); weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Total Beds: 22 (private rooms)
- Patient Ratios: 1:5 to 1:6

Required Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is mandatory

Common Diagnoses & Patient Types:
- Infections including:
- Endocarditis
- Abscesses
- Septic arthritis
- Sepsis
- Osteomyelitis
- Diabetic foot infections
- Many patients have underlying substance use histories

Experience & Skills:
- Strong neuro experience is essential
- Familiarity with caring for patients displaying complex behaviors related to substance use

Care Team Dynamics:
- Charge Nurse oversees 2-4 patients at times
- Certified Assistants (CAs) assist with vital signs, fingersticks, and ADLs (ratio 1:7 to 1:22)

Monitoring:
- Cardiac Monitoring: Portable telemetry packs used
- Nurses do not read/interpret strips

Orientation:
- 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
- Comprehensive standard orientation documentation provided

Prescreening Questions:
- Comfort level in a setting caring for patients who may be actively using or withdrawing from substances?
- Experience in managing challenging or escalating situations with patients?

Charting System:
- EPIC

Contract Details:
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Contract Weeks: 91
