About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required, with high-risk experience preferred. License: Active compact license required. Certifications: Required: BLS, NRP; Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate. Must-Have: Experience in high-risk and fast-paced environments; ability to provide newborn care; experience with electronic fetal monitoring. Description: Locals are considered at the same rate. Candidates who have been separated from a permanent position for at least 3 months are eligible for this position. 1 year of experience is required. High-risk experience is necessary. First-time travelers are accepted. Pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates must work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Floating is required to Postpartum and Antepartum units. Candidates may float to sister facilities that provide Mother/Baby services. Patient diagnoses include midwifery clients, private OBs, adult recovery services, and community care clinics. Experience is valued and staffing will follow established guidelines. The unit manages high-risk and high-volume labor and delivery cases with 4 operating rooms. Candidates must be able to function as a Baby Nurse during delivery and provide care to the newborn until transfer to postpartum. Hard stop requirements include the ability to circulate and provide essential newborn care, including assessments and administration of vitamin K injections. The average daily census is 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month. The unit consists of 31 rooms and beds. Scheduling is posted every six weeks to meet unit needs. Candidates must have experience with specific skills such as amnioinfusion, anticoagulation therapy, neonatal resuscitation, and various delivery techniques. Interdisciplinary support services are available, including respiratory, social services, and pharmacy. Travelers may float between units as necessary. Failure to float when required may result in reassignment or forfeiture of guaranteed hours.
