Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: 2 recent years in Cardiac Cath Lab License: Current RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support; ACLS Must-Have: Stepdown/PCU experience; Travel experience; knowledge of nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders on assigned patients. Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing the care plan while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. The role requires knowledge of professional nursing theories, practices, techniques, and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques is essential. Maintaining good working relationships with other employees is important. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors is required. Some computer skills are needed. An Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. No preferred certifications or licensure are mentioned.
