Medical Equipment Tech I

Position Summary This position will complete various tasks and projects throughout the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as assigned by the Medical Equipment Manager to include assisting with inventory management, repairs, and preventative maintenance of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital medical equipment. In addition, this position will perform data entry and online searches for purchasing equipment and repairs. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Proven experience with veterinary medical equipment use. Intermediate to advanced medical terminology relating to purpose and use of equipment. Proven experience in maintaining medical equipment. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Exceptional computer skills. Knowledge of medical equipment with preference of medical equipment used in veterinary care settings. Ability to utilize tools, gauges, and calibration equipment to assist in maintaining medical equipment. Ability to work professionally with multiple stakeholders within the hospital including faculty, veterinary students, veterinary technicians, management, executive leadership, and vendors. Physical Demands Lift up to 50 pounds. Travel to interoffice departments to communicate or deliver materials. Pushing and pulling. Climb and work from ladder. Working overhead. Stand for long periods of time. Ability to drive university vehicles. Duties/Responsibilities Assist with inventory control and preparing old equipment for surplus. This shall entail proper disinfection of old equipment, recording of requested information to process items for surplus. Work within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital to help ensure broken equipment makes its way to the Equipment Office for processing. Process and log equipment to send for repair. Package equipment for shipping or pick up. Assembles, installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of medical equipment. Tests the functionality of equipment and takes accuracy, sensitivity, and selectivity measurements to calibrate devices. Coordinates with medical staff and vendors to troubleshoot problems, resolve equipment malfunctions and enable new devices. Supports medical staff with equipment operations training. Assist Equipment Manager with organizing and labeling equipment overstock in the Equipment Office. Data entry. Process returns/new equipment and deliver to proper areas. Process expired/non-repairable equipment for surplus according to UGA Guidelines. Assist vendors that are on-site for preventative maintenance and repairs to travel throughout the VTH into secured areas. Perform online searches for equipment purchasing and repairs.
