About The Role

What You’ll Do

Boarding & Post-Closing

● Own the end-to-end boarding of newly funded HEAs to the subservicer, including preparation and quality control of boarding files and reconciliation against the funding tape.

● Track lien perfection from funding through recorded instrument, driving closing agents and title companies to clear rejections and return recorded documents within service standards.

● Prepare and deliver custodial document packages and asset schedules to the document custodian, and work exceptions through to certification.

● Maintain the servicing system of record so loan-level data, investor assignment, and lien position are accurate and reconciled across systems.

Servicing Operations

● Process payoff, settlement, and quote requests from homeowners, title companies, and lenders — verifying figures, issuing statements, and tracking each request to funding.

● Review and approve subservicer-issued payoff statements, and escalate discrepancies before funds move.

● Prepare and record lien releases and reconveyances on settled agreements within statutory timeframes.

● Monitor hazard insurance and property tax status across the portfolio, chasing evidence of coverage and escalating lapses, delinquencies, and force-placement risk.

● Serve as a first point of contact for homeowner servicing inquiries, delivering clear, accurate, and empathetic responses.

Reporting & Controls

● Produce recurring servicing and portfolio reporting for internal stakeholders and capital partners, and investigate variances rather than passing them along.

● Support senior-lien, default, and property monitoring by triaging alerts and escalating files that need attention.

● Help build the checklists, trackers, templates, and written procedures the servicing function needs as the portfolio scales.

About You

You are organized, detail-driven, and comfortable owning a queue. You take satisfaction in closing loops — the file that gets recorded, the exception that gets cleared, the homeowner who gets an answer the same day. You would rather chase something to completion than hand it off.

You combine precision with follow-through. You can hold dozens of open items across multiple counterparties without losing track, and you notice when two systems disagree instead of assuming one of them is right. You are comfortable picking up the phone with a county recorder, a title company, or a subservicer and pushing politely until you get an answer.

You thrive in a fast-growing environment with evolving priorities, high accountability, and the opportunity to build processes from the ground up. You are energized by work that protects real money and real homeowners, and you want to grow into deeper ownership of a servicing platform as it scales.

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

●1–3 years of experience in mortgage loan servicing, post-closing, title, or a closely related operations role.

● Working knowledge of the loan lifecycle after closing — boarding, payoffs, lien releases, escrow, and document custody.

● Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume queue with competing deadlines and follow items through to resolution.

● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including direct contact with homeowners and third-party vendors.

● Comfort working in spreadsheets — lookups, filtering, and reconciling data between two sources.

● Strong attention to detail and sound judgment about when to escalate.

● Ability to operate effectively in a fast-growing environment with evolving priorities and high accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

● Experience in fintech, consumer finance, mortgage, or real estate.

● Familiarity with subservicer relationships and investor reporting.

● Exposure to recording requirements, title curative work, or document custody.

● Experience working in an early-stage or high-growth company.

● Familiarity with Home Equity Agreements, HEIs, or shared-appreciation products.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6–12 months, this person will have:

● Taken full ownership of the boarding queue, with newly funded agreements delivered to the subservicer inside the established service standard.

● Reduced the population of funded-but-unrecorded files and established a working cadence with closing agents that keeps it from rebuilding.

● Owned the payoff and settlement queue end to end, with every request acknowledged the day it arrives and no statement issued without a second set of eyes on the figures.

● Built and maintained a reliable hazard insurance and property tax monitoring routine across the portfolio.

● Documented the procedures for their own function well enough that the work is transferable and no process depends on a single person.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and overall fit for the role.
