Job Description

role and responsibilities
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs) provide basic nursing care. They work under the direction of registered nurses and doctors.

essential functions:

  1. Prepares procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, assisting physicians in procedures.
  2. Anticipates procedure needs and outcomes to have necessary equipment available.
  3. Assists with minor surgical procedures in a sterile setting.
  4. Prepares labels and sends urine, biopsy, and culture specimens to appropriate laboratories.
  5. Has the ability to carry out clinical research protocols.
  6. Irrigates bladder independently and inserts and removes catheters.
  7. Performs the removal of breast, back, gall bladder and all other surgical drains during post-operation care.
  8. Oversees all exam rooms are properly equipped, stocked and organized.
  9. Manages the ordering of all supplies for clinic.
  10. Participates in licensed vocational nursing processes as directed, including possessing knowledge of male/female anatomy, sterile technique, medication administration, equipment and instruments needed for specialized procedures.
  11. Performs injections as directed by physician
  12. Rooms patients after paperwork is complete. Documents chief complaint, vital signs, and updates health record in patient's chart.
  13. Obtains physician’s authorization for diagnostic tests and referrals, procedures, and medication, etc.
  14. May also act as a Patient Service Coordinator and/or Medical Assistant based on clinic need and required certification.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 25 pounds.

qualifications and education requirements
  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing, and must show evidence of licensure in the state of California.

Job Type: Full Time (30 hours)

Salary: $30.00-$39 per hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday
