Data Product Manager

Data Product Ownership Role

This role focuses heavily on product strategy, data governance, road mapping, and cross-functional alignment, rather than limited, one-off project execution. The key responsibilities of this involve the following:

Data Product Ownership

• Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of data products/assets, not time-bound “projects.”
• Build robust product plans that drive the evolution and scalability of data products.
• Serve as the “CEO” of a specific data domain (e.g., supply chain data, financial data, etc.).

Architecture & Modeling

• Partner with engineering teams to design and refine data models, including semantic and self-service layers.
• Ensure high-quality data stewardship and adherence to governance standards.

Data Hub Strategy

• Drive the vision for “data as a product.”
• Manage the enterprise Data Hub, ensuring accurate and consistent data across systems.
• Oversee data sets used by other product teams and prepare data for API consumption.
• Act as the central point ensuring the enterprise leverages trusted, validated data.

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Work closely with Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Platform Teams, and Data Stewards.
• Act as the front door for business partners, requiring excellent communication and expectation-setting.

Candidate Profile We Are Looking For

Technical Background

• Strong foundation in data concepts; able to translate complex data models for diverse audiences.
• Able to write SQL and pull data independently.
• Familiarity with GCP, BigQuery, Medallion architecture, and Tableau automation is ideal.

Product Skills

• Heavy emphasis on product strategy, roadmap development, and execution.
• Experience with continuous development of data products—not project-based delivery.

Soft Skills

• Rockstar communicator who can influence, guide, and align stakeholders.
• Retail industry experience is a strong plus.
