Manufacturing EngineerBAE Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Anniston, Alabama facility. This position will report onsite in support of production, business, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will spend most of their time, up to 90%, on the shop floor resolving manufacturing-related issues and providing technical support on a variety of technical tasks across the assembly line.As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide floor support to these areas, including:Supporting assembly line operations, resolving issues related to production workflows, equipment, and processes, and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and productivityProviding technical assistance and guidance on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, including diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of complex systems and equipmentYour responsibilities will include:Providing engineering support for garage and assembly processes in the manufacturing of combat productsApplying basic knowledge of the design of organization's products and technology to solve moderately complex and clearly defined engineering problems. Selecting the best method or process from several existing alternativesAnalyzing and interpreting design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirementsDeveloping concepts, design change recommendations, rework/repair instructionsSupporting standard and non-standard weld repairs as necessaryRecommending process changes and implementing process improvementsInvestigating root cause/corrective actions for fabrication, assembly, and garage-related issuesDeveloping and making revisions to existing documentation, providing input for technical documentation, papers, and presentations / may deliver technical presentationsApplying basic lean/six sigma principles to drive improvements to production processesRequired Education, Experience, & SkillsBachelor's Degree (Engineering or Technical discipline i.e. mechanical/electrical engineering or engineering technology) or relevant work experience in lieu of a degreeCan work independently with minimal guidanceEffective communication skillsGeometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Capable of working with current computer applications, CAD programs, and model manipulation and understanding of engineering drawingsAbility to solve technical problems that require a professional level of engineering knowledge and manufacturing processesAbility to work well in a team environmentAbility to interface with customer (both internal and external)Preferred Education, Experience, & SkillsExperience with assembly line operations and garage maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities is a plusHands-on floor support experience, working with shop employeesExperience in root cause/corrective action- preventive actionKnowledge of Engineering concepts, practices, drawing standards, procedures, and processesBasic knowledge of inspection processes is a plusPractice of lean / 6 sigma concepts as applied to manufacturing is a plusFamiliarity with relevant military and commercial weld standards is a plusKnowledge of drilling / machining operations a plusPay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $64935 - $110390 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
