About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a driven and experienced Cloud Engineer to help design, build, secure, and optimize a growing multi-cloud environment while supporting a global Google Workspace ecosystem.
This role is ideal for a cloud professional who is passionate about automation, infrastructure modernization, and building scalable cloud solutions. You will work closely with software engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver highly available, secure, and cost-effective cloud platforms while enhancing collaboration and productivity across the organization.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping cloud strategy, driving Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption, supporting cloud migrations, and establishing best practices for cloud operations across a global enterprise.

What You'll Do
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud infrastructure primarily within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform , Ansible , and automation best practices.
• Monitor cloud environments and proactively optimize performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Drive FinOps initiatives by identifying and implementing cloud cost optimization opportunities.

Google Workspace Administration

• Administer and optimize the organization's Google Workspace environment, including:
  • Gmail
  • Drive
  • Meet
  • Chat
  • Cloud Identity
• Manage user lifecycle processes, identity services, and role-based access controls (RBAC).
• Improve collaboration capabilities and end-user productivity across global teams.

Platform Engineering & DevOps

• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (GKE/AKS).
• Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support automated application delivery.
• Collaborate with development teams to streamline deployment processes and improve operational efficiency.

Cloud Modernization & Security

• Support the migration of legacy on-premises systems to modern cloud-native architectures.
• Ensure all cloud environments align with security, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Participate in incident response efforts, troubleshooting activities, and root-cause analysis to maintain high service availability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, or Software Development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure .
• Proven experience administering Google Workspace and Cloud Identity environments.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform , Ansible , or similar tools.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration platforms.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as:
  • Python
  • Bash
  • Go
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues across distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
