Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician (2nd and 3rd Shift) Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Quality Assurance Technicians for our 2nd and 3rd shifts. These positions play a crucial role in supporting food safety and quality across various stages such as receiving, storage, processing, baking, packaging, sanitation, and shipping. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory, GFSI, and customer requirements while evaluating products, conducting audits, and investigating food safety incidents.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the quality technical expert on food safety and quality policy, procedure, product, and process compliance.
• Lead quality program compliance during the shift, including internal audits, managing holds of non-conforming materials, food safety inspections, and environmental swabbing.
• Evaluate bakery products and packaging for conformance, managing nonconformances through testing, inspection, and correction.
• Collaborate with operators and plant leadership to address safety and quality issues, escalating to management as necessary.
• Verify monitoring activities throughout the plant for GMPs, CCPs, preventive controls, and quality controls.
• Partner with operations leaders to ensure compliance to GMPs, food safety plan requirements, sanitation effectiveness, and records maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with oncoming shifts and leadership.
• Conduct incident investigations related to nonconforming products, raw material, and supplier noncompliance.
• Analyze key product and process variables to understand process capability and identify process drift.
• Participate in meetings for root cause analysis, improvement projects, and planning.
• Complete data entry related to food safety incidents and documentation errors.
• Review documents for compliance with policy and procedure.
• Provide on-the-job training for new-hire technicians.
• Maintain housekeeping of work areas and Quality Lab.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a quality technician addressing compliance expectations.
• Experience with critical issues and resolution using root cause analysis techniques.
• Preferred certifications: SQF, HACCP, PCQI, RCA CAPA, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Food Safety Defense, Sensory Evaluation, and statistical analysis tools.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Preferred: Six months to one year of related work experience.
• Preferred experience with Microsoft products such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent computer skills with multiple software applications, ERP, and network environments.

Work Environment

Work in a GMP environment where hair and beard nets are required, along with other GMP practices. The facility is warmer with moderate noise levels. Physical demands include walking, climbing, standing, sitting, and the ability to lift boxes up to 50 lbs. Overtime and weekend work are routine. Personal protective equipment for hearing, eye, and toe protection is necessary.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.50/hr.
