Complies with traffic regulations. REQUIREMENTS Pass the 20 hours’ classroom test. Pass a CDL physical. Pass a SLED background check. Pass the general knowledge, air brakes, passenger, and school bus written test at the DMV. Pass the school bus and CDL road test. Attend the 10 hours of in-service yearly. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Pass a 20 hours’ classroom test. Pass a CDL physical. Pass general knowledge, air brakes, passenger, and school bus written test at the DMV. Obey all traffic laws. Conduct pre-trip checks on buses before and after trips daily. Maintain discipline when students are on the bus. Report undisciplined students to the bus supervisor. Keep assigned bus clean. Discharge students only to authorized stops. Transport only authorized students. Enforce regulations against smoking and eating on the bus. Report all accidents and complete required reports accurately. Notify transportation supervisor in case of mechanical failure. Operate on assigned schedule. Submit accurate detailed route descriptions on time. Notify transportation supervisor of any hazardous road conditions. Cell phones must be with driver at all times and turned on. Check bus after each trip for students left on the bus. Perform other duties as assigned by the transportation supervisor. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises students while transporting them. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. No points on driving record and ability to pass a physical including a drug test are necessary. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License and pass State Skill and State Written Tests. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to multiply and divide by 10s and 100s. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES Ability to work in a friendly manner with co‑workers and students; read and understand maps; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Requires continuous sitting and occasional walking or standing. Frequent bending or twisting at the neck and trunk, repeated hand and arm motions, and continuous driving. May lift and move up to 75 pounds. Requires close, color, depth, and peripheral vision. WORK ENVIRONMENT Occasional work in temperatures above 100° and below 32°, potentially on slippery surfaces. Must meet deadlines with severe time constraints, interact with the public and other workers, and manage safety responsibilities in a frequently loud environment.
