The school psychologist will provide comprehensive psychological services to support students’ academic achievement, social-emotional development, and behavioral functioning. This role includes assessment, consultation, counseling, CSE/IEP/504 meetings, crisis response, and collaboration within a Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and special education programming. The psychologist partners with teachers, families, administrators, and related service providers to promote equitable access to learning and positive school climate. REQUIREMENTS Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, expertise in behavioral modification, crisis intervention, de‑escalation, and special education. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Certified School Psychologist Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Psychological Assessments & Evaluations Conduct psychoeducational evaluations in accordance with IDEA and state regulations. Administer and interpret standardized assessments of cognitive, academic, behavioral, adaptive, and social‑emotional functioning. Develop written evaluation reports that clearly synthesize data and provide educationally relevant recommendations. Participate in CSE/IEP meetings and present findings to families and staff in accessible language. Contribute to Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Chair/facilitate annual 504 meetings MTSS & Data‑Based Problem Solving Collaborate with grade‑level teams to analyze universal screening and progress monitoring data. Support Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions Assist and support with academic and behavioral intervention plans Promote data‑driven instructional decision‑making. Counseling & Direct Student Services Provide individual and small group counseling focused on self‑regulation, coping skills, peer relationships, and executive functioning. Support students experiencing anxiety, trauma, grief, or behavioral challenges. Monitor student progress toward social‑emotional and behavioral goals as it relates to the students’ IEPs. Consultation & Collaboration Serve as a consultant to teachers regarding classroom management, differentiated instruction, and social‑emotional supports. Partner with families to strengthen home–school connections. Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, special education staff, and related service providers. Participate in building‑level committees and school improvement initiatives. Crisis Prevention & Intervention Participate in crisis response and threat assessment teams. Provide immediate psychological first aid as needed. Assist in developing safety and re‑entry plans following significant events. Compliance & Documentation Maintain accurate, confidential records in accordance with FERPA, HIPAA (when applicable), and district policy. Ensure evaluations and re‑evaluations are completed within mandated timelines. Support district compliance with federal and state special education laws. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies Strong understanding of child development. Knowledge of psychoeducational assessment tools and interpretation. Ability to communicate psychological concepts clearly Skilled in collaborative problem‑solving Cultural responsiveness and commitment to equity in educational practice. High level of professional ethics and confidentiality.
