We are seeking a skilled Power BI Analyst to work closely with an Information Technology development team as well as Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Testers, Trainers, and Production Support teams. The successful candidate will design, build, and manage data models, interactive dashboards, and Power BI reports that transform raw data into meaningful business insights. The role will support leadership and business stakeholders by developing reporting and analytics solutions that assist with evaluating key performance indicators, operational performance, behaviors, and business data. The position will also contribute to enterprise solutions utilizing the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Pages.

Responsibilities

• Data Preparation:
  • Clean, transform, and prepare raw datasets using Power Query and SQL.
  • Extract and transform information from multiple data sources.
  • Prepare structured datasets for reporting, analytics, and visualization.
• Data Modeling:
  • Design and maintain reliable relational data models.
  • Develop star-schema models using appropriate fact and dimension tables.
  • Connect and integrate multiple data sources.
  • Create custom calculations, measures, and reporting logic using DAX.
• Power BI Development:
  • Design and develop interactive, multi-page Power BI dashboards.
  • Create reports, scorecards, and visualizations that clearly communicate business performance.
  • Develop calculated columns, measures, totals, and complex filters using DAX.
  • Publish and manage reports using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Visualization Reporting:
  • Build clear, intuitive, and user-friendly dashboards and reports.
  • Develop visualizations using charts, matrices, maps, scorecards, and other Power BI components.
  • Present complex data and technical findings in a format understandable to business stakeholders.
  • Help stakeholders identify trends, performance indicators, and actionable insights.
• Business Requirements Collaboration:
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Translate business needs into KPIs, reporting requirements, dashboard specifications, and technical reporting solutions.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, developers, QA testers, trainers, and production support teams.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Microsoft Power Platform:
  • Develop enterprise-grade solutions utilizing Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Pages.
• Power Pages Development:
  • Developing Power Pages websites and portals.
  • Configuring forms and lists.
  • Managing security and permissions.
  • Configuring user authentication.
  • Implementing Web Roles.
  • Configuring Table Permissions.
  • Implementing Azure AD authentication.
  • Developing responsive and accessible interfaces.
  • Using Power Pages Design Studio.
  • Working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Requirements

Required Skills Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, or Report Writing.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
• Strong proficiency in DAX.
• Experience with Power Query and ETL/data transformation.
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experience designing and maintaining relational data models.
• Experience developing star-schema data models, including fact and dimension tables.
• Experience building interactive dashboards, reports, scorecards, and data visualizations.
• Experience translating business requirements into KPIs, dashboards, and technical reporting specifications.
• Experience with Power Pages.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Pages.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for Power Pages development.
• Knowledge of Power Pages security, permissions, Web Roles, Table Permissions, and authentication.
• Strong stakeholder communication and requirements-gathering skills.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field along with 2 or more years of data analysis experience and strong technical proficiency in SQL, DAX, and data modeling. Familiarity with Excel, Python, or R for advanced data manipulation is beneficial.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service for data transformation, modeling, reporting, and visualization.

Ability to create measures, calculated columns, totals, KPIs, complex calculations, and filters using DAX.

Experience using Power Query to extract, transform, clean, and prepare data from multiple sources.

Experience with relational databases, data relationships, star schemas, fact tables, dimension tables, and data-source integration.

Strong SQL querying skills and experience using Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and ad hoc reporting.

Experience or familiarity with Python, R, Excel, Power Query M, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is beneficial.

Work Location Schedule

The position is primarily remote; however, occasional onsite work may be required in Hartford, Connecticut. Candidates must therefore be local to the area, willing to commute, or willing to relocate. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM EST, 8 hours per day / 40 hours per week. The work schedule may be adjusted when approved by the designated point of contact.
