The technician interprets technical documents to identify specifications and key characteristics, selects appropriate inspection methods to verify conformance, assists with internal audits, dispositions non-conforming material, and supports customer and supplier claims, RMAs, and QMS documentation. The position plays an active role in the 8D/CAPA process, including investigation, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, and verification of effectiveness, working closely with Quality Engineering to reduce product defects and variation.
Responsibilities
  • Organize and execute daily priorities as directed by quality leadership while operating with minimal supervision and providing clear communication on task status and results.
  • Set up and operate quality control inspection and test tools and equipment for incoming materials and components, in-process assemblies, and finished products.
  • Provide hands-on training to QC personnel in the proper use of inspection and test tools and equipment.
  • Develop, maintain, and update inspection plans and other QC documentation to ensure consistent and compliant inspection processes.
  • Learn and use the SAP ERP system and Qlik reports to support assigned activities, including supplier and customer claims, MRB monitoring, QC usage decisions and transactions, and non-conforming material (NMR) dispositions.
  • Work with cross-functional groups to determine root causes and corrective actions for trending non-conformities and defects.
  • Support the 8D and CAPA processes by conducting investigations, performing root cause analysis, participating in problem-solving, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and verifying their effectiveness.
  • Review NMR reports, collaborate with stakeholders to determine well-documented dispositions, and complete NMR documentation to close records in a timely manner.
  • Interface with all departments to coordinate First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with internal QMS, AS9102, and customer requirements.
  • Review and incorporate customer and product-specific requirements into FAI report preparation, compilation, and final approval.
  • Support the organization and tracking of all FAI information to enable on-time delivery while meeting all customer requirements.
  • Suggest and promote continuous improvement opportunities and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to implement process and quality improvements.
  • Analyze product conformance against defined requirements and specifications and document findings accurately.
  • Handle small, delicate parts carefully during inspection and testing to prevent damage.
  • Collaborate with others to review issues and solve problems effectively using structured root cause analysis methods such as Ishikawa (fishbone) diagrams, 5 Whys, and A3.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in quality functional roles, including at least 1 year in a Quality Assurance-related role.
  • Experience or familiarity with quality audits, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to analyze product conformance based on given requirements and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work with small, delicate parts without causing damage during inspection or handling.
  • Experience supporting or participating in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities.
  • Experience working with or supporting quality audits and audit findings.
  • Ability to work effectively with others to review issues and solve problems using structured root cause analysis tools such as Ishikawa/fishbone diagrams, 5 Whys, and A3.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and working within a QMS-certified manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments and document quality activities clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Fiber Optic Cabling, Radio Frequency, and interconnect products.
  • Experience with AS9102 requirements and Net-Inspect for First Article Inspection reporting.
  • Experience in an AS9100, ISO, IATF, or similar QMS-certified manufacturing company.
  • Knowledge or experience with IPC standards such as IPC-620, IPC-610, and J-STD-related requirements (knowledge is a plus but not required).
  • Familiarity with using ERP systems such as SAP to support quality activities, including MRB and non-conformance management.
  • Experience using reporting tools such as Qlik to analyze quality data and support decision-making.
  • Background or exposure to R&D or development environments, particularly for complex or high-reliability products.
  • Comfort working within structured 8D and CAPA frameworks for continuous improvement.
