Licensed Veterinary Technician

PetVet Care Centers' Columbia River Veterinary Specialists is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency Care team in Vancouver, WA. Position Overview Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) provide patient care for medical and surgical patients, manage anesthesia, perform procedures, and lead patient care teams. The LVT is expected to act as the charge nurse in their area, organize patient flow, monitor treatments, and support the DVM in delivering high‑quality care. Responsibilities Perform patient care for medical and surgical patients, including anesthetic induction, monitoring, and post‑operative care. Lead patient flow and act as charge nurse in designated areas. Record accurate documentation and drug logs (Cubex). Conduct rounds, communicating patient status to clients and team members. Perform phlebotomy, cystocentesis, catheter placement, NG tube placement, and fluid therapy. Administer CPR, intubation, and rescue breathing during emergencies. Collect vital information from distraught owners and provide compassionate communication. Perform advanced laboratory skills: cell morphology, urine dry prep, fecal review. Provide triage by phone and in person, offering clear, helpful information to clients. Stabilize patients under veterinary direction and monitor sedation/anesthesia events. Interpret CBC/CHEM values and medication dosing, contraindications, and side effects. Administer and manage blood transfusion and albumin/plasma transfusion therapies. Identify murmurs, arrhythmias, pulse deficits, and anesthetic complications. Educate staff on procedures and best practices. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Licensed Veterinary Technician in Washington or ability to obtain Washington license within 90 days of hire. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs. Tolerance for long periods of standing, squatting, kneeling, and walking. Basic computer skills. Adaptability to a constantly changing work environment. Ability to remain calm and objective during high‑stress situations. Professional, positive demeanor with clients and team members. Signing Bonus Up to $3,000 sign‑on bonus for full‑time commitment.
