Overview Position Type: Nurses Date Posted: 7/31/2025 Location: District-Wide Canton Public Schools 2025-2026 School Year Substitute School Nurses Qualifications BS in Nursing or related field preferred School-based experience Knowledge of pediatrics and public health Registered Nurse Connecticut Nursing License Daily Substitute Nurses will be contacted to fill in for School Nurses who are absent. To be considered as a sub nurse candidate, practical experience in the following areas is required: Diabetics with insulin pumps (Knowledge of continuous glucose monitors is helpful as well as Glucagon administration) G-tube feeds Epilepsy (Diastat administration) Asthma (inhaler and nebulizer administration) Anaphylaxis (Epi-pen administration) Familiarity with tracheotomy care/suctioning/replacement and ventilators Responsibilities include: provide routine health care, administer medications, monitor student health plans, collaborate with school personnel and parents, conduct health and wellness education in small groups, assist students in identifying health needs and encourages their participation in developing a plan of care, provide emergency treatment as needed. Maintain health records according to documentation standards. Job Requirements RN with current CT license; 1 year school nursing experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and knowledge of community resources. Ability to perform tasks independently and with minimal direct supervision. Requires strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills. Application Procedure Apply Online.
