Position Summary The E-Commerce Assistant plays a key role in growing The Backpacker Outdoors’ online business by creating an outstanding digital shopping experience and supporting the day-to-day operations of our Shopify website. This position works closely with the Web Store Manager, Buying Team, Marketing Team, and Store Management to ensure our website remains accurate, engaging, and easy to shop while providing excellent customer service. This is an hourly position averaging 25–40 hours per week. What You’ll Do Website & Product Management Create and publish new products in Shopify. Write and optimize product titles, descriptions, specifications, and images. Maintain accurate pricing, inventory, variants, and product information. Build collections, landing pages, and promotional content. Merchandise products to improve customer engagement and conversions. Maintain consistent brand standards throughout the website. Customer Service Respond to Live Chat, email, and website inquiries. Assist customers with product recommendations and outdoor gear expertise. Resolve order issues, returns, exchanges, shipping questions, and warranty requests. Deliver exceptional customer service that reflects our brand. Order Fulfillment & Operations Process online orders accurately and efficiently. Coordinate with fulfillment staff to ensure timely shipping. Monitor inventory levels and communicate stock discrepancies. Assist with inventory audits and website inventory updates. Digital Marketing Support Merchandise the website for seasonal promotions and campaigns. Assist with email marketing using Klaviyo. Update landing pages and promotional content. Support SEO efforts through optimized product content and metadata. Create homepage features, banners, and featured collections. Website Maintenance & Reporting Maintain accurate product information across all sales channels. Identify website errors, broken links, and merchandising opportunities. Report technical issues and assist with website improvements.Help improve overall website performance and user experience. Weekly Responsibilities Attend weekly E-Commerce/L10 meetings. Complete assigned website and merchandising projects. Assist with promotional planning and product launches. Support seasonal merchandising initiatives. Qualifications Required Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of e-commerce. Comfortable learning new software and technology. Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities. Passion for the outdoors and helping customers.
