We are seeking a Virtual Analyst/VMware Engineer to join our team.
This role will involve designing, implementing, administering, and supporting VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments while managing virtualization platforms, Windows and Linux systems, storage, software deployments, and infrastructure operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in VMware virtualization, VDI administration, Windows and Linux operating systems, Amazon WorkSpaces, networking, storage management, and enterprise infrastructure support, along with a passion for virtualization technologies and infrastructure modernization.

Job Description
The Virtual Analyst/VMware Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. The Virtual Analyst/VMware Engineer will manage VMware virtualization technologies, administer VDI platforms, support software deployments, maintain Windows and Linux environments, and ensure infrastructure stability. The Virtual Analyst/VMware Engineer will collaborate with infrastructure teams to perform system upgrades, migrations, storage management, and virtualization optimization. This Virtual Analyst/VMware Engineer role requires strong expertise in VMware technologies, operating systems, networking fundamentals, and enterprise virtualization best practices. The Virtual Analyst/VMware Engineer will play a key role in ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable virtual desktop services while supporting business-critical infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
VDI Infrastructure Development & Administration
- Design, deploy, and administer VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
- Create and maintain VDI master images for enterprise desktop environments.
- Provision and manage VDI clients across domains and sub-domains.
- Build virtualization environments using VMware product suite including ESX, Horizon, vCenter, Cloud Volumes, and vGPU technologies.
- Perform VMware server virtualization including ESX, vMotion, DRS, High Availability (HA), Horizon, vCenter, server migrations, and vROps administration.
- Perform VMware migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure optimization.
- Provision and administer Amazon WorkSpaces VDI environments.
- Install, configure, and manage software on virtual machines.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents received through ServiceNow.
- Track assigned work items and activities through Rally until completion.
- Apply operating system patches, bug fixes, and security updates.
- Install service packs and maintain security configurations.
- Resolve scheduled job failures and data integrity issues.
- Configure and enforce Group Policies across user desktop environments.
- Monitor infrastructure performance and respond to alerts.
- Manage enterprise storage environments including NFS and ISILON storage.
- Create and manage storage exports for NFS and ISILON environments.
- Install client applications including Java, Anaconda, kubectl, containerd, Visual Studio, .NET tools, and other project-specific software.
- Coordinate server repairs and hardware replacements with vendors.
- Support export-controlled infrastructure environments while maintaining compliance requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a VMware Engineer, Virtualization Engineer, or VDI Administrator.
- 4-6 years of VMware virtualization experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on VDI administration experience.
- Strong experience with enterprise virtualization technologies.
- Excellent troubleshooting and infrastructure support skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Schenectady, NY.
